TIE has joined a call for the EU to ensure the transition period for new EU rules on batteries is sufficient for business to put them into practice.
The Commission, Parliament and Council are about to enter into negotiations to finalise the Batteries Regulation. Once agreed, the Regulation will have far-reaching impacts on the design, labelling and end-of-life handling of batteries and battery-powered appliances, including toys. For example, products may need to be re-designed or manufacturing processes adapted to ensure compliance. It is essential that an adequate transition period is set between the rules being adopted and then entering into force to make sure that to make that economic operators will be able to properly apply the rules.
