TIE and industry associations urge a product-specific approach to the Ecodesign Regulation

TIE and 14 other industry associations call on the European Commission to take a product-specific approach to the implementation of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation. In a joint letter, they highlight the potential risks of broad horizontal requirements on recyclability and repairability as proposed in the current working documents.

For toys, a product-specific approach is essential because they are already highly regulated, with strict safety requirements in place. Any new ecodesign measures must align with these existing rules to ensure that safety remains a top priority.
