With the rules on Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) reporting obligations still to be fully defined, Toy Industries of Europe (TIE) and other industry associations call for a transitional period to ensure companies the clarity needed to comply.
Under Article 24 of the ESPR, several businesses are already required to fulfil their reporting obligations on the discarding of unsold consumer products, even though the necessary implementing act is still under development. This misalignment leaves them without a clear framework, creating challenges in data collection and compliance. A transitional regime allowing flexibility would give to companies time to adapt their systems while ensuring the provision of meaningful and comparable information.
