Today, on World SME Day, we want to give a shout-out to all the small businesses involved in bringing play to children across the EU!
Small and medium sized companies are a big part of the reputable toy sector. Over 5000 small toy companies are indirectly members of TIE; SMEs represent 99% of toy manufacturers in the EU and almost one in nine are actually micro-enterprises with less than 10 employees.
No matter their size, reputable manufactures work hard to guarantee that their toys are safe for children to play with. No small feat when you consider the 2000 pages of EU safety requirements for toys. TIE’s national associations provide a helping hand and are important sources of knowledge and support for small manufacturers at the local level.
